Questions we get asked

Does pulse-arc welding need solder or flux?

No. The arc fuses the parent metal itself in milliseconds, so there is no solder joint to discolour or fail.

Will it mark the stone or the finish?

The pulse is a few milliseconds long and the heat stays within a millimetre of the joint, which is why permanent-jewellery studios use it next to set stones. Always test on a sample piece first.

What power supply does it need?

PulseGem 100 and IceFuse 250 run on a normal 220 V single-phase socket with an argon cylinder.
