Overview

WHY IT WORKS

Key Features

True dual operator output
Independent +1 and +2 terminals, each with its own current knob and digital display, so two arcs can run at once from one machine.

630A DC output
20–630A adjustable range covers everything from 3.2 mm electrode work up to heavy 6 mm structural passes.

Built-in gouging mode
A dedicated gouging switch and separate gouging-amp dial switch the machine from welding to air carbon arc gouging without swapping equipment.

Hot start & adjustable arc force
0–100% arc force for smoother strikes and less electrode sticking — useful when a second, less experienced operator is on the other terminal.

IGBT inverter platform
90% efficiency and a 0.93 power factor, for a more stable arc on long cable runs than an older transformer-based rectifier gives you.

Dual cooling fans
Forced-air cooling keeps the machine inside its rated window through long shifts.

Generator compatible
Runs off a genset, not just grid power, so it travels to site work.

IP21 enclosure, Class H insulation
Built for typical workshop dust and moderate humidity.

Wheeled chassis
The 48 kg unit sits on integrated castors, so repositioning it around a shop floor doesn’t need a forklift.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU

Buyer Benefits

None of the features above matter unless they translate into fewer problems on your shop floor. Here’s what they actually change:

Two welders, one asset — you buy, service, and depreciate one machine instead of two, and you free up floor space and one power drop instead of two.

Weld and gouge without changing machines — repair and root-gouging work doesn’t need a separate air carbon arc gouging power source standing idle the rest of the week.

Fewer stalled jobs from a bad strike — hot start and anti-stick behavior cut down on the small delays that add up over a shift, especially with cellulosic electrodes like 6010.

Runs where your other equipment does — being generator compatible means the same machine that welds in the shop can go out to a site job without a second purchase.

Built to move — the wheeled base means one person can reposition it between bays without waiting on material handling.

HOW IT WORKS

How the ARC630-2T Works

Dual Operator Output

The machine takes 415V three-phase input and, like any modern IGBT inverter welder, converts it to a high-frequency AC, steps it down, and rectifies it back to a controlled DC output. What’s different on the ARC630-2T is that this output is brought out to two separate terminal pairs, each with its own current control and digital ammeter — so operator 1 can be running 200A on a 4 mm electrode while operator 2 runs 350A on a 5 mm electrode, without either setting affecting the other’s readout.

Air Carbon Arc Gouging Mode

Flipping the gouging switch reconfigures the machine for CAC-A (air carbon arc gouging) — a process that strikes an arc between a carbon electrode and the workpiece, then uses a jet of compressed air to blow the molten metal out as a groove. It’s the standard way to back-gouge a root pass, remove a defective weld, or prepare a joint without a separate gouging power source. The separate gouging-amp dial lets you set gouging current independently from your welding current, so you’re not re-tuning the whole machine every time you switch modes.

WHERE IT’S USED

Applications

Structural steel fabrication
Shipbuilding & heavy plate
Pipeline construction
Back-gouging & repair welds
Construction sites
Mining equipment repair
Pressure vessel fabrication

For shops that also need precision plate or profile cutting alongside welding and gouging, it’s worth looking at Cruxweld’s air plasma cutting equipment, such as the FINELINE CUT-160 or FINELINE 100, as a complementary machine rather than a substitute for gouging.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Buying Guide — Is the ARC630-2T Right for You?

A few questions worth answering before you order:

Do you actually need two simultaneous arcs, or just high amperage?

If it’s one welder running heavy electrodes occasionally, a single-operator machine may suit you better and cost less — see Cruxweld’s single-operator ARC 630 or the lower-amperage ARC 400 IGBT for comparison.

Is gouging a regular part of your workflow, or occasional?

If it’s frequent — repair shops, pipeline back-gouging crews — the built-in gouging mode saves you from running a second machine.

What’s your available power supply?

The ARC630-2T draws up to 54A at 415V three-phase (32 kVA rated input). Confirm your site or shop supply and breaker sizing can support that before ordering.

SAFETY FIRST

Safety Guidelines

Arc welding involves electric shock risk, intense heat, ultraviolet radiation, fumes, sparks and burn hazards. Operators should use correct PPE, safe earthing and proper ventilation. For general welding hazard awareness, refer to OSHA welding, cutting and brazing safety guidance.

Use a welding helmet with suitable shade lens.

Wear welding gloves, safety shoes and flame-resistant clothing.

Keep flammable material away from the welding area.

Ensure proper earthing of the job and machine.

Do not touch live electrical parts.

Use ventilation or fume extraction in enclosed areas.

Do not operate with damaged cables or loose connectors.

Allow trained operators only for gouging applications.

Question & Answers

GOT QUESTIONS?

Frequently Asked Questions

+What does “dual operator” mean on the ARC630-2T?
Two independent output terminals, each with its own current control and digital readout, so two welders can strike separate arcs off the same power source at the same time.
+Can both arc holders run at full 630A at the same time?
Total rated output is 630A DC. Whether both terminals can run at high current simultaneously without derating isn’t detailed on the datasheet — confirm with Cruxweld’s technical team before quoting two-station full-current operation.
+Is gouging built in, or optional?
Built in — a dedicated switch and gouging-amp dial sit on the front panel. A compatible gouging torch and carbon electrodes are needed as consumables.
+What electrode sizes does it support?
3.2 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, and 6 mm.
