What is a Hanging Spot Welding Machine?

A hanging spot welding machine — also called a suspension spot welding machine or suspended spot welder — is a resistance welding system in which the welding transformer, welding tong, and pneumatic cylinder are integrated into one compact unit that hangs from an overhead balancer. Instead of bringing the workpiece to a fixed machine, the operator glides the welding gun to the workpiece.

The welding principle remains classic resistance spot welding: two copper alloy electrodes clamp the sheets under pressure, a controlled high current passes through the contact point, resistance heat melts a small nugget of metal, and the joint solidifies into a strong, clean spot weld — no filler wire, no flux, no shielding gas, no spatter.

What makes the suspension design special is freedom of movement.
