The CRUXWELD FINELINE 40C is a plasma cutter with inbuilt air compressor: a 40 A IGBT inverter and a 4–5 bar compressor in one 25 kg case that runs from any 230 V single-phase socket. Pilot-arc start, 10–40 A stepless control and a digital ammeter give clean, fast cuts in mild steel, stainless, aluminium and copper up to 12 mm — on site, on the roof, in the shop, wherever there is a plug. The Plasma Cutter with Inbuilt Air Compressor for Site and Shop
Every plasma cutter needs clean, dry compressed air — and on most jobs that means dragging a compressor, a hose and a second power lead to wherever the plate is. The FINELINE 40C plasma cutter with inbuilt air compressor removes that from the equation. Its own 4–5 bar compressor sits inside the case, so the only things you carry are the machine, the torch and the earth clamp. Plug into a 16 A single-phase socket, switch on, set the current and cut.
Inside is a 40 A IGBT inverter with pilot-arc starting: the arc is struck without touching the plate, so painted, rusty or expanded metal cuts cleanly and consumables last longer. A microprocessor controls the air sequence — pre-flow, cut, post-flow cooling — and the digital display shows the set current, with LED indicators for power and thermal protection.

From Socket to Cut in Four Steps
1Plug in and clip on
A 230 V, 16 A socket is all the plasma cutter with inbuilt air compressor needs. Clip the earth clamp to the plate; the inbuilt compressor charges in seconds.
2Set the current
Thin sheet 10–20 A, 6 mm around 30 A, 10–12 mm at 40 A. Flip the switch to gas test to check air flow.
3Pilot arc and cut
Press the trigger: the pilot arc lights, transfers to the plate and the air jet blows the molten metal through.
4Straight or freehand
Follow a straight edge or cut shapes freehand; the narrow kerf leaves little dross to grind.
Clean-cut figures are for production-quality edges at normal hand speed with the standard torch; severance is the maximum the plasma cutter with inbuilt air compressor will part at slow speed. Rated maximum cutting thickness 12 mm.

How thick can the FINELINE 40C cut?

What power supply does it need?
A 230 V single-phase socket on a 16 A fuse, 50 or 60 Hz. Rated input is 5.5 kVA and 25.6 A at full current, and the machine tolerates ±15% voltage variation, so it also runs from a 5 kVA or larger generator.
Does it really need no external air at all?
Correct. The inbuilt compressor supplies 4–5 bar with automatic pre-flow and post-flow. For continuous production cutting at the top of the range you may prefer the larger FINELINE 100IC, which can also take external air.
What is pilot-arc starting and why does it matter?
The torch strikes a small arc inside the nozzle before touching the plate, then transfers it to the work. Cuts start on painted, rusty or expanded metal without contact, and the electrode and tip last longer than with scratch starting.
Which materials can it cut?
A plasma cutter with inbuilt air compressor cuts any electrically conductive metal: mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass and galvanised sheet. Unlike oxy-fuel it does not depend on oxidation, so non-ferrous metals cut as easily as steel.
