Overview

Overview

A hand operated spot welder for sheet metal, wherever the work is

A portable spot welder joins two overlapping steel sheets in one squeeze. The ProSpot 6K brings 6 kVA of spot welding to any workbench: no fixed station, no air line, no foot pedal, and a normal single-phase supply.

It suits repair shops, sheet-metal and wire-product makers, and maintenance teams who need neat lap joints in sheet up to 1.6 + 1.6 mm, or cross joints on rods up to 3 + 3 mm, without a MIG torch, wire or gas.

How spot welding works

Pressure, current, and a weld forms inside the joint

Resistance spot welding joins overlapping sheets without filler metal. The heat is made right where the two sheets touch.

Squeezeup to 120 daN
Step 1 · Squeeze

The tips clamp the sheets

Two copper tips press the overlapping sheets together, so the sheets touch firmly at one point.

Currentup to 6,550 A2–65 cycles
Step 2 · Current

Current flows through the joint

A high current passes from tip to tip. The contact point between the sheets has the highest resistance, so that is where the heat builds.

Weld nuggethold while it cools
Step 3 · Hold

A nugget fuses the sheets

The metal melts into a small nugget. Pressure is held for a moment while it cools, and the two sheets are now one.

Why a portable spot welder

What changes in your workshop

01

Takes the welder to the job

Lift it by the handle and weld at the bench, on the assembly or on the vehicle. No fixed station, no foundation.

02

No filler, no gas, no smoke

A spot weld uses only current and pressure. There is no wire, rod or shielding gas to buy, and almost no fume.

03

Quick to learn

Place the sheets between the tips and squeeze. A new operator makes good spots after a short practice run.

04

Neat joints, little finishing

Small, tidy spot marks instead of a bead, so most parts need little or no grinding before painting.

Good spots, every time

Four habits for strong welds with a hand operated spot welder

  • Clean the sheet

Wipe off oil and grease. The compensation circuit copes with oxidised sheet, paint residue and black sheet, but take off thick paint and heavy scale where the spot goes.

  • Keep the tips pointed

A flattened tip spreads the current and gives a weak spot. Dress it back to shape, or fit a new tip.

  • Set force and time for the sheet

Use the daN force scale and the 2–65 cycle timer. Thicker sheet needs more force and more cycles; check on a test piece first.

  • Test on a scrap piece first

Weld two offcuts of the same sheet and peel them apart. A good spot tears a button out of one sheet.

What is inside the ProSpot 6K

Synchronous electronic timer with SCR

Set the weld time from 2 to 65 cycles. The same setting gives the same spot, weld after weld.

Compensation circuit

Makes sure the current flows properly before the timer starts, so it welds oxidised sheet, sheet with paint residue and black sheet.

Current control by phase shift

Fine control of the current for difficult welds on very thin sheet, small-diameter rods and stainless steel.

Cos Ø control

Improves welding precision and performance.

Manual force adjustment, daN scale

Set the electrode force, up to 120 daN, and read it on the scale for repeatable results.

Adjustable throat, extra arm couplings

Throat depth from 125 to 250 mm. Additional arm couplings give a larger opening between the arms for awkward parts.

Class F insulation

All transformers are coated with Class F insulation material and tested at 4000 V for safety and durability.

Arms and electrodes for every job

Supplied with 125–150 mm arms, ready to use. A wide choice of other arms and electrodes is available.

Question & Answers

FAQ

Hand operated spot welder: questions buyers ask

What is a hand operated spot welder used for?
It joins two overlapping steel sheets, or crossing rods, with small spot welds, using only current and pressure. Typical jobs are sheet-metal boxes and panels, brackets, wire baskets, mesh to sheet, clamps and automotive body panels.
What thickness can the ProSpot 6K hand operated spot welder weld?
Sheet metal from 0.25 + 0.25 mm up to 1.6 + 1.6 mm (3.2 mm combined), and rods from 0.3 + 0.3 mm up to 3 + 3 mm.
Which metals can a hand operated spot welder weld?
Mild steel, galvanised steel and stainless steel. Send the material and the thickness of each sheet on WhatsApp and our team confirms the setup.
What power supply does the hand operated spot welder need?
A single-phase 220–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz supply with 20 A delayed fuses at 220 V. No three-phase line and no compressed air are needed.
Can it weld oxidised, painted or black sheet?
Yes. The compensation circuit makes sure current flows properly before the timer starts, so it welds oxidised sheet, sheet with paint residue and black sheet. Thick paint and heavy scale should still be removed where the spot goes.
How do I set the weld on a hand operated spot welder?
Set the weld time on the synchronous electronic timer (2 to 65 cycles), the current by phase shift adjustment, and the tip force on the daN scale (up to 120 daN). Test on two scrap pieces: a good spot tears a button out of one sheet when peeled.
What comes with the machine?
The ProSpot 6K is supplied with 125–150 mm arms fitted and an extra pair of welding tips. The tips twist off and screw on. Other arms and electrodes are available for special jobs.
Does spot welding need gas, wire or filler rod?
No. A spot weld forms from the current passing through the metal and the pressure of the tips. There is no wire, rod or shielding gas to buy.
Portable, pneumatic or rocker arm spot welder: which one do I need?
Choose the portable ProSpot 6K when you take the welder to the work. For thicker sheet and batches at a bench, see the ROKR 16K rocker arm spot welder; for large assemblies, the AeroSpot 35 hanging spot welder.
What is the hand operated spot welder price and delivery time?
WhatsApp +91 88008 82983 with the material, sheet thickness and city. Our team replies with the price and delivery time.
