Overview

Cut depth

How much plate does an air plasma cutting machine with 120 A cut?

Three numbers matter on every plasma datasheet. Pick one to see what it means on the plate.

0 mm5 mm10 mm15 mm20 mm25 mm30 mm35 mmQuality cut edge through 30 mm mild steel

30mm

Quality cutting thickness: 0.3 to 30 mm

The range where the edge is square and clean enough to weld without grinding. On 1 mm sheet the 20 A low end stops burn-through; on 30 mm plate the full 120 A keeps the kerf narrow and the dross light.

0 mm5 mm10 mm15 mm20 mm25 mm30 mm35 mmPierces 30 mm plate without a start hole

30mm

Perforating thickness: 30 mm

Piercing starts a cut in the middle of the plate instead of from an edge. The FINELINE 120 pierces 30 mm, which is what a CNC table needs for inside holes and nested parts.

0 mm5 mm10 mm15 mm20 mm25 mm30 mm35 mmMaximum cut edge through 35 mm mild steel

35mm

Maximum cutting thickness: 35 mm

The severance limit. The plate parts, with more dross and a rougher edge. Use it for scrap, demolition and one-off cuts, not for production parts.

Air and arc

What happens between the compressor and the cut

The FINELINE 120 runs on dry shop air, 15 l/min at 4.5–5.5 bar. The filter regulator on the rear panel takes out water and sets the pressure; the gas test button lets you set it without striking an arc.

HF pilot arc, not scratch start

High-frequency ignition lights a pilot arc inside the nozzle before the torch reaches the plate. The main arc transfers to the work the moment it is close enough, so cuts start on paint, rust and mill scale, and the electrode is never dragged on the plate. On a CNC table the same pilot arc gives repeatable starts for every pierce.

The numbers behind the arc

Open-circuit voltage 275 V, no-load voltage 350 V, rated input 15 kW at 25.6 A, power factor 0.93, efficiency 85%. IP23 cabinet, class H insulation, noise below 72 dB. CE and ISO certified.

Materials

Mild steel, stainless, aluminium: one air plasma cutting machine cuts them all

Plasma cutting stainless steel, copper, aluminium and iron with the FINELINE 120
  • Mild steel0.3–30 mm quality cut, 35 mm maximum
  • Stainless steelCuts without oxygen, so no oxide burn on the edge
  • AluminiumPlasma cuts it where oxy-fuel cannot
  • Copper and other conductive metalsAny metal that conducts electricity can be plasma cut

Thickness figures are for mild steel. Stainless and aluminium cut slightly thinner at the same edge quality. Send us your material and thickness on WhatsApp and we will confirm the setting.

Question & Answers

FAQ

Air Plasma Cutting Machine — Frequently Asked Questions

?What is an air plasma cutting machine?
A plasma cutter that uses ordinary compressed air as the plasma and shielding gas. An electric arc ionises the air into a plasma jet that melts and blows the metal out of the cut. The FINELINE 120 does this at up to 120 A on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
?How thick can the FINELINE 120 cut?
Quality cuts from 0.3 mm to 30 mm, piercing to 30 mm and a maximum severance cut of 35 mm on mild steel with dry air at 4.5–5.5 bar.
?What compressor do I need for this air plasma cutting machine?
Any compressor that delivers 15 l/min of dry air at 4.5–5.5 bar continuously. Fit a dryer or water separator in the line — moisture is the main cause of short consumable life.
?Can I use this air plasma cutting machine on a CNC table?
Yes. It has a CNC interface and HF pilot-arc starting, so it works with portable CNC plasma cutters and gantry tables as well as the hand torch.
?What do 2T and 4T mean?
2T: hold the trigger to cut, release to stop — for short cuts. 4T: press once to start and once to stop — for long cuts without holding the trigger.
?What power supply does it need?
415 V ±15%, three-phase, 50/60 Hz; rated input 15 kW / 25.6 A with 3 × 20 A fuse protection.
?Does it cut stainless steel and aluminium?
Yes — plasma cuts any conductive metal, which is the main advantage of an air plasma cutting machine over oxy-fuel. Stainless and aluminium cut slightly thinner than mild steel at the same quality.
?How do I get the price and delivery time?
Request a quote on this page or message +91 88008 82983 on WhatsApp with the material, thickness and whether you cut by hand or on a CNC table. You will receive a GST quotation with delivery time, usually the same working day.
Tell us your material and thickness — we will confirm the right plasma cutter and send a quotation today.
